Stockland Summer Show 2014
Thank you to eveyone who made this year's Stocklands show such a success.
Success at Sparsholt Regionals
Lower Stockland's dressage duo of Tina Phillips and Mister O were off to a flying start at the recent summer Regionals at Sparsholt Equine College in Hampshire.
Mister O had been off for 6 weeks and had only come back into work 6 days before. This made his performance even more special. For the whole day he stayed at 2nd place right up until the last competitor's test and missed out by just 1% to qualify for the Nationals.
Tina says, "He felt really good considering he's been off for so long and boy did he turn some heads at the show. This was my first ever regional championship and again he did not disappoint, I had 3 judges and each one smiled as soon as he entered the Arena. He couldn't have gone any better, he went so well given all the odds and also the long journey as we have never travelled that far before."
The very proud owner adds, "Athough I was gutted, I was so pleased as I never thought he would come 3rd out of a class of 29 with some strong competition. Once all the regionals are over I am hoping we are lucky enough to gain a wild card. Fingers crossed. "
Pony Club Area 10 Dressage
Pentyrch Pony Club recently took part in the in the Pony Club Area 10 Dressage.
Dispite the ground being rather slippery after the rain overnight everyone performed well, particularly the intermediate team comprising of Loti Innes Parry, Meg Ellis and Ffion Samuels who were placed 4th as a team. Well done to Meg who was also placed 2nd as an individual with an impressive 76.21%

Pentyrch Pony Club Combined Training
Pentyrch Pony Club held their third annual combined training competition (dressage & SJ) at Stocklands on Saturday 22 March 2014. The day went very well with 23 members competing over two classes, which for a small branch was a great turn out. The age of members competing ranged from 8yrs old Isabelle Jones to 18yrs Ffion Jones and 17yrs old Catrin Davidson.
As a small club we are proud of our ethos that everyone is welcome to have a go and the aim of the combined training was for everyone to enjoy the event and to gain experience at competition in a friendly environment – whether it is giving younger members the experience of a competition or a 'warm up' competition for the older member before the summer Pony Club Area Qualifying competitions.
The day was very busy from start to finish with the dressage being held in the indoor arena and the SJ being held in the outdoor arena. Members competed over two classes, the under 12yrs class riding the PC Walk/trot D Level Test 2012; and the second class (12yrs and over) rode the PC Introductory Test 2007, both classes had a choice of jump heights from cross poles up to 3'3'' to suit members ability. The winner of Class 1 (under 12yrs) was Ellie Howard with a dressage score of 38 and a clear ride and the winner of Class 2 (12yrs & over) was Meg Ellis with a dressage score of 52 and a clear ride, Meg also had the best dressage score of the day. For full results of the day please look at our Pentyrch Pony Club website (http://branches.pcuk.org/pentyrch).
A very big THANK YOU to the parents and volunteers that helped on the day. We also held a raffle on the day and raised £50 which was donated to BBC Sport Relief.
Pentyrch PC is a small branch based to the north of Cardiff. We hold hold regular rallies & dressage/ SJ clinics with the aim of having fun and learning. Our members currently age from 7yrs up to 21yrs. We try to enter teams in all disciplines specifically tetrathlon, showjumping, dressage and eventing.
