Wales and Borders National Champions

Meg Ellis, one of Lower Stocklands upcoming eventers competed on her fantastic horse Sherman, for the Wales and Borders Team at the BEu18 100 Championships at Weston Park where Teams from the eight regions in the UK compete for the title of Nation Champion.

A strong dressage and double clear meant she was one of the four best scores from the team which counted towards the final result leading to the Wales and Borders Team being crowned National Champions at this prestigious event.

Well done to the team and Meg and Sherman!

World Horse Welfare Keith (aka Lenni) as featured in Welsh Rider (Aug edition)

Keith was born at World Horse Welfare's Glenda Spooner Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Somerset, after his mother came in due to welfare concerns.  He was initially rehomed as a youngster for handling, but his re-homer was unable to continue to care for him so he was returned to the farm ready to find a new home where he could continue his education.

His new re-homer, Ali, was looking for a pony for her granddaughter Livvi and after seeing Keith on the World Horse Welfare website then meeting him in person, they fell in love.  Keith arrived in his new home at Lower Stockland, near Cardiff as a four year old and quickly settled into the yard, making friends with every horse in his field.

Livvi continued Keith's handling and training before backing him and two years later the pair is now competing successfully in all disciplines from show jumping to dressage.  Ali said, "the best think about Keith is his fantastic temperament and honest.  He has a real love for life and willingness to learn.  We recommend rehoming to all the other horse owners on our yard and in fact some have been so inspired by how well Livvi has done with Keith they have rehomed rescue horse and ponies too."

Plasnewydd Rhoda displays her show quality

Plasnewydd Rhoda, a beautiful section D mare, displayed her show quality at Sunnybank Ec Show, where she was shown in hand by Jessica Newsway.  Rhoda not only won the in hand M & M class but she also qualified for the M & M ridden championship as well.

The second picture is of her is at Llandysul show where she came 2nd out of 20 in the section D class, ridden by Roxie Murray. This was a fantastic result, bearing in mind Rhoda only had a saddle put on again in August, after being broken as a 4yr old, and put straight in foal. She then kept the foal on her for a year.  Roxie and her owner have high hopes for Rhoda and are aiming to qualify for HOYS next year.  We wish you the best of luck.
